Charcoal = Activated
Activated charcoal might not look special to the eye, but this simple powder is a powerhouse when it comes to health, wellness, and beauty. Using activated charcoal topically acts like a magnet sucking dirt out of the pores - what's not to like?
What IS Activated Charcoal
Activated charcoal is carbon soot that's been treated to give it a sponge-like structure so its absorptive-power is increased. It's said, that one gram of activated charcoal has a surface area of 3000 square meters, which is the same size as three Olympic swimming pools, seven basketball courts or 230 car parking spaces. This huge surface area is basically made for soaking up any harmful substances. Medicinally, activated charcoal is mostly used in poisoning cases because of its amazing ability to absorb. When given to someone in need, a lot of the poison sticks to the charcoal instead of absorbing into the body.
Why should I put Activated Charcoal on my skin?
Items that are infused with activated charcoal, like some of our products, can remove more dirt from within your pores better than most other ingredients used in skin care. Don't get us wrong, of course other cleansers work well for removing excess dirt from the surface of your skin but they are not able to draw out the impurities that clog your pores in your everyday life. This means it can potentially cleanse deeper inside your pores than the use of regular face washes.
Reasons YOU should be using Activated Charcoal:
1. Minimizes Pores
All throughout the day there are harmful toxins from the world around us that clog our pores. When your pores aren’t clear, neither is your beautiful complexion. When used in a face mask, the activated charcoal binds to dirt and oil and helps pull it out of your pores, making them less visible.
2. Balances Oily Skin
Used in a cleanser, it can pull the unwanted oils from your skin, leaving it fresh and squeaky clean. Some companies will recommend that you will want to do this maybe once or twice per week at the most- so that you don't dry out your skin. But if you use our rich castile Charcoal soap you will be hydrating your skin as well as detoxifying.
3. Treats Acne
Depending on how severe it is and what’s causing it, activated charcoal may be able to help. In soap form it has slightly gritty texture which might provide the gentle exfoliation you need. It will also absorb oils and toxins on and below the skin. You can use it as a spot treatment if you don’t want to use it on your whole face–just think of it as a mini mask for your blemish.
4. Deeply Cleanses
Activated charcoal soap bars are getting more popular every day because of the benefits. Some may be a little more powerful than others, but you do not want to use these daily, as they will soak up the healthy oil and moisture that your skin needs. Choose the product that best suits your personal needs.
